Consumer Proposal

A consumer proposal is an offer made to your creditors to settle your debt, usually for an amount less than the full amount owed.

By filing a consumer proposal, you can avoid bankruptcy, keep all of your assets, and repay only a portion of your debt over a period of up to 5 years. It will immediately stop garnishments, end harassing collection calls, and prevent any further legal action against you.

For over twenty years, we’ve helped individuals and businesses take control of their financial situation and get a fresh financial start. Our experience puts us in a strong position to assist you in making a consumer proposal that is likely to be accepted by your creditors.

Call us today to schedule a free appointment to discuss your financial situation. The steps to filing a consumer proposal are likely simpler than you imagine:

  1. First, one of our federally-licensed trustees will meet with you to better understand your financial situation and advise you of all of your debt relief options
  2. If a consumer proposal is the right solution for you, we will assist in developing a proposal that is likely to be accepted by your creditors complete with a payment plan that is affordable to you
  3. We will then prepare and file the proposal and all necessary documentation, and deliver a copy to all of your creditors in order to stop any garnishments, collection calls and legal action
  4. Your creditors will then have 45 days to consider your proposal
  5. If your creditors accept the proposal, or do not respond to the trustee within the 45 days, you will begin making the payments that you agreed to in the proposal
  6. Upon completion of all of the payments, you will have no further responsibility to your creditors, and we will prepare and file a Certificate of Full Performance as proof of your completion of the proposal
  7. If your creditors reject the proposal, we will work with you to discuss your go-forward options, which can include filing another proposal, or filing an assignment in bankruptcy
